Trade: Retailers can sell only electric or electronic products bearing CE mark

Economic operators can sell electric or electronic equipment only if they bear the CE mark and include information about the producer, importer and seller or will face fines between 500 and 50,000 lei, AMCOM announced on Thursday in a press release.

According to the source, as of November 22, 2016, government decision 740/2016 came into force, including European provisions in the field in Romanian law. The decision established new rules for economic operators involved in the supply or distribution chain for this kind of equipment, defining more clearly obligations incumbent on producers, their authorised representatives, importers and distributors.

Radio equipments include, among other things, radio communication stations of any kind, modules or parts of equipments that broadcast on radio frequencies, wireless routers, radio and TV receivers or GPS equipment.

According to the order, the Ministry of Communications and Information Societies (MCSI) is the national authority in charge of the radio equipment field and supervisions and control activities in the radio equipment field.

Government decision 740/2016 includes in national laws decisions of the European Parliament and Council of Europe of April 16, 2014 on introducing radio equipment in the market.
