Electrica paid in 2019 contributions worth 1.098 billion lei to the state and local budgets, according to the sustainability report published on Tuesday, which shows that from the total of 375.16 tons of dangerous waste generated a group level, 48% were put to value and recycled, and 42% are temporarily stored for elimination during the next year or being put to value.
The group Electrica published the fourth Sustainability Report about activity in 2019. The report presents the non-financial results obtained by the group between 1st January – 31st December 2019 and was developed according to the standards in the Guide of Global Initiative for Reporting (GRI) option Core, as well as the specific supplement Energy Sector.
The Electrica Group launched in 2019 a new strategy adapted to changes and new paradigms of the energy market and which places sustainability in the centre of the business concept. The protection of biodiversity and diminution of the damaging effects of its activity or its assets represent a priority. Thus, Electrica had investments worth 3 million lei in the domain of biodiversity protection last year and 11.698 million lei in the domain of environment protection, the report says.
‘In 2019. Out of the total of 375.16 tons of dangerous waste generated at the level of group, 48% were put to value and recycled, 42% are temporarily stored to be put to value or to be eliminated during the next year, approximately 8% are permanently stored safely, while less than 2% of the waste were eliminated by incineration’ the company says.
During 2019, Electrica invested over 540,000 euro through programmes with social responsibility, almost two times more than in the previous year.
The Electrica group has 8,300 employees, their number increasing by 4% as compared to 2018. In 2019, the employees with executive positions, representing a percentagte of 90% out of the total of employees of the group, were represented in a percentage of 23% women, 77% men. In the leading positions 35% of the total of employees were women.
Moreover, in 2019, there was a reduction of over 30% of the number of work incidents, as compared to 2018.
The Electrica group offers services to almost 3.8 million users in three areas for electricity distribution: Transilvania Nord, Transilvania Sud, Muntenia Nord and in the country for the supply of electricity and for maintenance and energy services.
Starting with 2014, Electrica is a company with private majority capital, listed on the stock exchange in Bucharest and London. Electrica is the only Romanian company listed in the domain of distribution and supply of electricity in Romania.
