Enel Green Power Romania has commissioned its largest photovoltaic park with capacity of 63 MW

Enel Green Power Romania, the business line dedicated to renewable energy production of the Enel Group in Romania, has commissioned Calugareni Solar PV Park, southern Giurgiu county, and has completed its takeover from Mytilineos, the company announced on Monday in a press release.

Calugareni Solar PV Park covers an area of 88 hectares and has around 120,000 photovoltaic panels.

"With an installed capacity of 63 MW and an annual electricity production of about 99 GWh, the PV plant is the largest so far in the company's PV portfolio," the release said.

Thus, Enel Green Power Romania has reached a capacity of about 100 MW of its photovoltaic parks after the commissioning of the Calugareni plant, and about 600 MW total installed capacity in wind and photovoltaic power plants in Romania.

"The new park has the latest photovoltaic technology and produces green energy through approximately 120,000 bifacial monocrystalline panels, model JA Solar 540 and 535 W, with a life span of 30 years, which it injects into the national electricity distribution network with the help of 248 inverters," the release said.

The photovoltaic plant is connected to the high-voltage grid (110 kV) of the concession-holder distribution operator E-Distribution Muntenia, and is expected to contribute to reducing CO2 emissions by 112,387 tonnes per year. The photovoltaic project also allows for the addition of energy storage capacity.

Enel Green Power Romania currently has an operational green energy portfolio of around 600 MW, consisting of wind and photovoltaic projects.

The company operates photovoltaic parks with a capacity of around 100 MW in Dolj, Giurgiu and Prahova counties, and has similar projects underway at various stages of development.

Enel Green Power Romania has invested 1.13 billion euros since its establishment in 2007. In 2022, Enel Green Power Romania produced 1.24 TWh of renewable energy.
