Final electricity consumption January through October this year, down 0.1%

Final electricity consumption January through October this year reached 45.271 billion kWh, down 0.1% from the same period last year, informs the National Institute of Statistics (INS), in a release on Tuesday. 

"The final electricity consumption reached 45271 billion kWh, by 01% less than in the same period of 2016; public lightning recorded a 6.8% drop and consumption of the population dropped 4.0 per cent. Exports of electricity reached 5471.4 million kWh, down by 1376.4 million kWh. Own technological consumption in networks and stations stood at 4740 million kWH, down 30.8 million kWh," reads a press release. 

The main sources of primary energy totalled 28.257 million tonnes of oil equivalent (toe) over January 1- October 31 2017, up by 1.281 million toes compared with the first ten months of 2016. 

Domestic production totalled 17.637 million toe, up 809,300 toe compared with the same period of the previous year, with imports standing at 10.619 million toe. 

In this period, electricity resources stood at 55.483 billion kWh, down by 1.458 billion kWh compared with the same period of 2016. 

Thermal plants output stood at 22.714 billion kWh, up 1.613 billion kWh (+7.6%). The hydropower plants output stood at 12.138 billion kWh, down by 4.426 billion kWh (-26.7%) and the nuclear-electric plants stood at 9.509 billion kWh, up 202.3 million kWh (+2.2%). 

Wind power plants output totalled 6.126 billion kWh January through October this year, up 1.011 billion kWh compared with the same period of last year, while solar energy in photovoltaic installations stood at 1.767 billion kWh, up by 69.7 million kWh compared with the same period in 2016.
