Natural gas exports to Republic of Moldova could start from mid-August
Shipments of natural gas to the Republic of Moldova could begin in the second half of August for a price in line with the competitive market, somewhere around 80 lei per MWh, president of the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) Nicolae Havrilet told the 22nd edition of the Focus on Energy Conferences this Thursday.
'As concerns the export of natural gas to Moldova, the competitive market will set the price somewhere at 80 lei / MWh. Any supplier from the competitive market may sell natural gas,' said Havrilet, adding that millions of cubic meters will be shipped to a non-industrial area in the Republic of Moldova, close to the border with Romania.
On July 23, Prime Minister Victor Ponta announced that Romania will start supplying natural gas to the Republic of Moldova through the Iasi (northeastern Romania) - Ungheni pipeline this August, as scheduled.
