OMV Petrom fined by Environment Guard

OMV Petrom Romania company was fined with 60,000 lei by Olt County Commission of the National Environment Guard for the operation of 25 wells without the necessary documents.

According to a press release of Tuesday, issued by Olt Environment Guard, the company did not observe article 94, paragraph 1 of government decision 195/2005 on environment protection.

Environment commissioners applied a fine of 60,000 lei for the operation of 25 wells by OMV.

“OMV made extractions of crude oil with 25 Cluster type wells without having documents for their operation. For that the company received a fine of 60,000 lei,” said Gheorghe Neacsa, the chief commissioner of Olt Guard.

The commissioners also fined OMV Petrom with 25,000 lei,  two years ago for  accidental pollution in Barasti.

“A fine of 25,000 lei was applied for not informing competent authorities in case of accidental pollution of the environment in Barasti locality,”Neacsa said.
