The Electrica Group planned investments worth 712.4 million lei for this year
The Board approved the consolidated value of the investments plan of the Electrica Group for 2021, worth 712.4 million lei, the largest part being the distribution sector.
‘In the meeting on 26th February 2021, the Board approved the consolidated value of the Investment Plan (CAPEX)of the Electrica Group for 2021, worth 712.4 million lei. Out of this value: 638.9 million lei represents the financial plan for 2021 of the distribution branch Distributie Energie Electrica Romania as regards investments ( the financial part of the invidual plan of investments), 51.2 million lei represents the annual financial plan 2021 of Electrica Furnizare as regards investments (the financial part of the individual investments plan); 11.6 million lei represents the annual financial plan of Electrica Serv as regards investments ( the financial part of the investments individual plan)’ shows the group.
Since 2014 to the present, Electrica Group has become the biggest investor in the modernisation and retechnologisation of the electricity distribution grids, with a total of 4.39 billion lei invested
The Electrica Group is a key player on the electricity distribution and supply markt in Romania, as well as one of the most important players in the energy services sector.
The Electrica Group offers services to almost 3.8 million users and has a national coverage area – with organisation in three areas for electricity distribution: Transilvania Nord, Transilvania Sud, Muntenia Nord and on the territory of the country for electricity supply and maintenance and energy services.
Starting with 2014, Electrica has been a company with majority private capital, listed on the Stock Exchange in Bucarest and London. Electrica is the only Romanian company listed in the domain of electricity distribution and supply in Romania.

Electrica (EL), the biggest electricity distribution and supply group in Romania, recorded a consolidated net profit of RON 387 mln (EUR 80 mln) in 2020, up 87% compared to 2019.
The group’s consolidated revenues amounted to RON 6.5 bln (EUR 1.34 bln), up 3.5% year-on-year.
Electrica operates the power distribution grids in Romania’s Transylvania and northern Muntenia regions, with close to 200,000 km of power lines and 3.76 million clients served.
The group also has an electricity supply subsidiary – Electrica Furnizare.
The Romanian state is Electrica’s biggest shareholder, with a 49% stake. The rest of the shares are held by Investors on the Bucharest Stock Exchange and London Stock Exchange.
The Electrica shares are up almost 10% this year and 37% in the last 12 months (as of March 1, 2021). The group’s market capitalization is RON 4.76 bln (EUR 977 mln).
