Callatis Nautical Club, inaugurated in Mangalia

The city hall of Mangalia Municipality inaugurated Callatis Nautical Club, a project implemented through Romania-Bulgaria 2007-2013 Trans-border Cooperation Programme and funded with European structural funds.

Together with Mangalia Mayor Cristian Radu, Balchik Deputy Mayor Stelian Ceresov, Senator Nicolae Moga, representatives of the local administration and business environment in the neighbouring trans-border Mangalia-Balchik area, representatives of the County of Constanta and of the region of Dobrich and project beneficiaries participated in the event.

The investment value stands at approximately 1.4 million euros, the general objective being that of the business development on the nautical tourism segment by capitalizing the existing tourist and human potential in Mangalia-Balchik trans-border area and the development of the trans-border infrastructure for business support for the nautical leisure segment.

In this respect, Mayor Cristian Radu said that implementing this project in only four months is a success of all those involved in the construction and fitting of the Callatis Nautical Club, the first project with European Funds launched in the past year by the local administration.

'Shortly there will be other investments made, funded from European funds and I am referring to Callatis - History on the Black Sea Shore project. Moreover, recently, together with Mangalia Municipal Local Council we initiated a project on drawing European funds for the refurbishment and modernizing of the sea shoreline between Mangalia and Saturn,' Mayor Radu pointed out.

Callatis Nautical Club disposes of a cruise yacht, suitable spaces for conducting nautical tourism specific activities and is a logistic business centre in the nautical zone in Mangalia-Balchik trans-border area.
