Daimler hired 500 people in Sebes and starts the production in the new factory for gear boxes
The German group Daimler will officially inaugurate in April in Sebes, the production of gear boxes of latest generation for Mercedes Benz, the project of 300 million euro meaning the hiring of over 500 people in the factory in the county Alba.
The inauguration will take place on 4 April and the factory will produce gear boxes 9GTronic.
‘The ceremony will show the beginning of a new stage in the project of 300 million euro developed by the Daimler group in Romania for the extension of the production of gear boxes of latest generation destined to Mercedes, project which generated until now over 500 new work places’ shows the Daimler Star Transmission and Star Assembly branches in a press release.
The building of the factory started in 2014.
Star Transmission, the branch of the German group Daimler in Romania was set up in 2001 through the opening of a production unit in Cugir which produces axes, and manufactured components for engines, gear boxes and steering systems. Later, in 2013 another production unit was opened in Sebes which produces autonomous gear boxes.
