New public procurement legislation package could be ready during the current parliamentary session

A new public procurement legislation package could be ready before the end of the current parliamentary session, national leader of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) Prime Minister Victor Ponta said Monday.

"We will discuss today the parliamentary activity and the manner in which we will be submitting to our colleagues in Parliament this parliamentary session the Tax Code and the Code of Tax Procedure as well as the Royalties Law. I also hope that before the ongoing parliamentary session ends we submit a new public procurement legislation package so that we may fully implement the programme on which I ran in 2012," Ponta said at the beginning of a meeting of the PSD National Standing Bureau.

He added that his Cabinet has so far kept its word. "There is the cut in the Value-Added Tax (VAT) to be achieved and then we may say that it is for the first time that an electoral political programme is indeed carried through while in office. Also today, we establish a party programme and criteria as well as all that we have to do at the National Council convention of March 20-21 - changes in the party's statutes, the procedure to elect the national chair, workshops," added the PSD national leader.
