Uber expands services in Romania to Timisoara
US-based multinational online transportation network company Uber Technologies Inc. announced it expanded its services in Romania to the city of Timisoara, seenews.com informs.
Timisoara, with population of some 320,000, is the fourth largest city in the country.
The city is visited by more 280,000 tourists a year, the company said on its website.
Uber launched its ride-sharing service in Bucharest last year. The company added Cluj in August and Brasov earlier this month.
There are approximately 120,000 people who use the application in Bucharest and Cluj, according to local startup online portal Start-up.ro. The population of the two cities totals 2.2 million combined.
With Romanian authorities still working on a legal framework to regulate the ride-sharing industry in Romania, Uber had to fight several legal battles to be able to operate in Bucharest and Cluj.
