A delegation of the Turkish Coast Guard paid an official visit to Romania
A delegation of the Turkish Coast Guard headed by Rear Admiral Hakan Ustem has paid an official visit to Romania from April 10 to 13, on an invitation from the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Border Police. On this occasion, a document was signed that establishes concrete cooperation ways in the fight against illegal migration and cross-border crime.
According to a release by the General Border Police Inspectorate (IGPF) sent on Wednesday, the Turkish delegation had a working meeting with the Internal Affairs Ministry secretary of state Ioan Buda, wherein the sides approached the development of the cooperation relations between the two authorities, as well as topics of shared interest regarding the fight against illegal migration and cross-border crime in the Black Sea region.
During the visit, the border authorities of the two countries have had several meetings, where they have carried an analysis of their joint activities in 2015 and talked about new Romanian-Turkish cooperation projects on current issues.
The Turkish officials, accompanied by a delegation of the Romanian Border Police traveled to Constanta to visit the Integrated Complex System for Black Sea Traffic Monitoring, Surveillance and Control (SCOMAR). The guests have also visited the Constanta Port, where the Romanian Border Police Ship 'Stefan cel Mare' was at berth after a recent FRONTEX mission in the Mediterranean Sea.
"The meeting demonstrates the will of the two parties to continue and boost the collaboration relations between the border authorities of Romania and Turkey, and also to act for preventing and fighting crime at the Black Sea," the said release reads.
