Ambassador of the the Republic of South Africa to Romania Jabu Ntsokolo Ishmael Mbalula started a national tour in order to study some investment opportunities. He stated on Tuesday, during the visit that he paid to Targu Mures, that there are trade relations between his country and Romania, but their net value is fairly low and because of that.
He stated that there are some South-African investors who are already working in Romania, in various areas. He went on saying that he had meetings with the chairman of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and an analysis was carried out. The Ambassador said that there are commerce relations between Romania and South Africa but their net value is low, thus the goal of the meetings with representatives of commerce chambers of Romania's counties is precisely of exchanging information, seeking investment opportunities in order to develop businesses.
The diplomat mentioned that representatives of the Chamber of Commerce presented to the South African delegation the economic structure of Mures county, as well as the investment possibilities in the gas extraction industry, the manufacture of musical instruments, tourism, agriculture and other fields.
Prefect Lucian Goga revealed that Mures county has potential for development because it has a "healthy economy." "As I was saying to his Excellency, in Mures county there are serious partners of discussions in local and central administrations. We have established as a first step, after getting acquainted, to arrange a meeting with the rectors of the two universities, because it seems to me the fastest and easiest way to achieve, in the end, such a collaboration between university environments of Mures County and the Republic of South Africa. I was saying that Mures county is a multicultural area, it offers many opportunities for collaboration in the cultural area as well. I also mentioned that in Mures county there are many tourist attractions worth visiting, including by citizens of the Republic of South Africa. (...) I suggested to his Excellency that such contacts could be initiated through the Foreign Affairs Ministry and I offered to be the host of these visits if his Excellency considers it appropriate," Lucian Goga stated.
