Ambassador Kuzmin: Brussels makes the states in the Eastern Partnership to choose:either with the EU or with Russia
The leaders of the European Union makes the states in the Eastern Partnership to have a ‘ tough choice’ between the EU and Russia stated on Monday the ambassador of the Russian Federation to Bucharest, Valery Kuzmin.
‘Unfortunately, Brussels, by its practical actions, especially in the Eastern Partnership makes constantly the states to have a tough choice: either with the European Union or with Russia. We have objected to this approach since our relation with the European Union was defined as strategic partnership’ stated Kuzmin in a press conference.
He mentioned in this sense, the EuroAsian Economic Union. ‘ We consider that there is obvious potential for interaction between the EU and the EuroAsian Economic Union’ the ambassador said.
Speaking about the relation of his country with the US, he mentioned the opening for ‘ equal dialogue and mutual respect’.
‘Russia respects an invariable principle, which has been the same for decades. We are prepared for equal dialogue and mutual respect with any president, government, both in Washington and any other state’ he said.
At the same time, Kuzmin spoke about the relations Romania-Russia and the their improvement ‘ on the basis of pragmatically advantageous cooperation and traditions of friendship and good neighbourhood’.
