Antonescu, in Warsaw:Convergent positions of Romania and Poland in respects of Rep. of Moldova and Ukraine getting closer to EU

Positions of Romania and Poland in respects of Rep. of Moldova and Ukraine getting closer to the European Union are convergent, said on Wednesday the President of the Senate, Crin Antonescu, in Warsaw, during the meeting with the President of Poland, Bronislaw Komorowski .

'We discussed two themes in particular: the Romanian-Polish relations in the framework of the Strategic Partnership in the EU, NATO and (a second theme, I believe!) the Eastern Partnership, the EU Neighbourhood Policy and the Summit in Vilnius, the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine files, the prospect of signing the association agreements. I also assessed in the discussion with the President of Poland, the same as in discussions with the presidents of the Polish Parliament chambers, that the positions of Romania and Poland are converging, that we plead with the same force for a major signal at Vilnius on our part, of the EU, in favor of bringing these two countries closer to the EU, and all the reasons, the elements that build such a vision ', Antonescu said at the end of the meeting with the President of Poland.

The move by Poland and Romania to encourage closer ties between Chisinau and Kiev and the EU, the President of the Senate stressed, 'is nothing else but a development, an update with a new energy of the spirit that led to the establishment of the EU and then to its enlargement'.

Antonescu, who is paying from Monday to Wednesday an official visit to Poland, went during the last day of this visit to the ' Fryderyk Chopin ' Museum, after on Tuesday he gave a lecture in front of professors and students of the Jagellonian University in Krakow, visited the Wawel Castle and Cathedral and former concentration and extermination camps Auschwitz -Birkenau, where he laid flowers at monuments commemorating the victims.

The Senate President confessed that visiting these historical places was a 'meaningful experience ' .

On Monday, Antonescu visited the Insurrection Museum, where he met with the Marshal of the Polish Senate, Bogdan Borusewicz, the Marshal of the Sejm, Ewa Kopacz , with members of the Romanian Embassy in Poland and gave a lecture about the collaboration between Romania and Poland at the Institute for International Relations.
