Austrian Embassy regarding the Ordnance 13: we appeal to the government to find an acceptable solution for all parties
The Austrian Embassy to Bucharest criticised on Saturday the OUG regarding the amendments of the criminal codes, appealing to the government to find an acceptable solution for all parties.
‘ Romania made considerable progress over the latest years in strengthening the rule of law and the anti-corruption fight. Good governance and the rule of law are, among others, some of the most important conditions to economic development. OUG adopted on 31 January could weaken the anti-corruption legislation and endangers the progress made. Austria is a friend and a partner of Romania in the EU. We appeal to the government to find a solution which could be acceptable for all parties’ a press release of the embassy shows.
On Friday night hundreds of thousands of people protested in the country for the fourth night on a row against the adoption of the OUG regarding the amendment of the criminal codes.
