MEP Sorin Moisa (PSD): I support the request of the protesters to withdraw OUG13
The MEP from the Social Democratic Party (PSD) Sorin Moisa announced on Friday that he supports the protesters regarding the withdrawal of the OUG regarding the codes, saying that ‘ we risk to cross the point where the fundamental interests of Romania may be affected’.
‘There comes a moment when silence is guilty. We hope to be able to postpone a message on this issue until 15 February, when the European Parliament will vote the commercial treaty EU=Canada, ‘ the child’ we raised in the S&D group and probably, unfortunately, the only strategic project in the transatlantic relations for a good while. It is clear that we reached a moment of unbearable tension, and I will express my position, irrespective of consequences.
I support the request of the protesters to withdraw the OUG13/2017 regarding the amendments of the criminal code and the criminal procedure code. It is not only a legitimate request, but I think it is the wisest way of getting out of the crisis, to rebuild minimum trust very necessary at the beginning of governing, as well to find a compromise, when important things can be solved’ Moisa wrote on Facebook.
He argues that the place of such debate, regarding the essential rules of the society is the Parliament of Romania, chosen in a democratic way, with’ calm involvement of all the actors who want to take part in the debate’.
Moisa draws the attention that in a normal democracy ‘ to have legal power to do a thing, does not mean that this is good or legitimate’.
