Average number of employees in 2013 higher by 60,000 than in 2012; similar evolution expected in 2014
The average number of employees in 2013 exceeded by 60,000 persons the one in 2012, a similar evolution being expected in 2014, Liviu Voinea, Minister Delegate for Budget said on the occasion of the debate in the parliamentary committees for budget-finance regarding the budget for next year.
'In 2013, an important contribution was brought by agriculture (in the GDP - editor's note), but not as important as in 2011, while, in exchange, constructions or industry had more important contributions to the economic growth. Thus, we expect in 2014 the construction sector and the industrial one to have a higher contribution (in the GDP - editor's note), while agriculture is expected to bring a negative contribution. This shows there is a high probability that the forecast of economic growth for next year will be revised upwards. The average number of employees in 2013 was higher by 60,000 persons compared with the 2012 figure and we expect a similar evolution in 2014 too and an increase in the average wage gain. The consolidated budgetary position - we can notice that in 2014, compared with 2013, the continuing fiscal adjustment is calculated based on the cut operated in the expenses instead of being calculated based on revenues and taxation', said Voinea.
According to him, the 2014 budget has 39.7 billion lei earmarked for investments, by 3.6 billion lei more compared with 2013, on the background of the acceleration of the EU funds absorption rate and of increasing expenses on financing reimbursable programme - the loans being contracted with the foreign banks - and of maintaining the capital expenditures of the state budget.
'Although the deficit got adjusted, the balance between investments and the deficit increased from approximately 1 to 1 over 2009-2011 up to 2.7 to 1, although investments are almost three times higher than the deficit. This proves that the fiscal adjustment is not done through cutting investments, regardless of the public rhetoric on this', said the Minister Delegate for Budget.
