Basescu: If the government falls, the biggest chances are that Mrs.Dancila remains interim at least till the presidential elections
The former president Traian Basescu says that he does not exclude the possibility that if the censure motion is voted in the parliament, Viorica Dancila remains the prime-minister interim ‘ at least until the Presidential elections’. În his opinion, ‘it is an illusion’ the idea of some that there would be early elections.
‘ A fall of the Dancila government t diminishes as importance Mrs Dancila, who would be better as an adversary in the second round of the presidential election with Klaus Iohannis’ . She will be a very weak candidate, who will not get in the second round, while now, as prime-minster, she has chances to get in the second round, which is wonderful for Iohannis (…)/ I do not exclude the possibility that the motion if passed, Mrs. Dancila stays interim until after the presidential elections’ stated the former president on Friday night on B1 TV.
He said that, if the motion passes, it is possible the international agencies retrograde to the category ‘junk’ the country rating of Romania.
‘If the motion passes, it will be a victory for the opposition, a major victory, the problem is that what they do the next day (…). At present we don’t know nothing, there is no protocol between the parties what they will go as a government’ Basescu said. The PMP MEP stated that the reforms ‘ are made by the chosen parties at due time, and which have the force to introduce the major reforms’ .
Traian Basescu spoke about ‘ the illusion’ that there would be early elections organized. The illusion some have that there could be early elections. I remind you, out of my practice, that I wanted to start early elections.(..) The Parliament dropped the first government and when they sent the second proposal they did not come to work anymore and let it there for a lot time (…)even in the case of the dropping of the government, the biggest chances are that Mrs.Dancila is interim to the presidential elections’, Basescu said.
He added that Victor Ponta is ‘ the big winner’ from the censure motion, as, according to Basescu, if the motion passes, Pro Romania can draw more and more MPs from PD and then ally with the party he led.
Basescu also said that he did not exclude that after the motion there will be a government made up of ProRomania, which was left from ALDE and PSD, without Viorica Dancila. According to his opinion, it is possible that ‘a tandem’ made up of Victor Ponta and one of the PSD leaders Paul Stanescu.
