Bloomberg Vice Index: Romania is 47th out of 50 in the ranking of markets for drugs
Romania is 47th in the ranking of the most accessible 50 markets which are part of the most recent Bloomberg Vice Index, an annual analysis of the cost of drugs.
The indicator analyses the price of the ‘vice basket’ made up of four generic groups of opioids, cocaine, cannabis and amphetamine-type stimulants.
The Americans should pay 846 dollars for a ‘ vice basket’, the third highest price in the world, after New Zealand and Australia.
In Romania, the basket is worth 193 dollars, but the average weekly income is only 234 dollars, while in the US the average weekly income is 1,202 dollars.
The study, say the analysts, is only an economic indicator and does not discuss issues of morality or legality. Marijuana, cocaine and heroine are allowed only for recreational use or medical one in different forms and places in the world. The indicator measures, similarly, the rate with the average income ( on the basis of the International Monetary Fund). In the US, for example, the value is 70% almost the double of the level of Canada where the basket is a little over 300 dollars, approximately similar to the half of the world of Hong Kong.
In Romania, the rate is 82.1% over the one in Bulgaria (46th, 79% the cost of the basket 138 dollars, the weekly income of 175 dollars), Hungary is 36th with a rate of 47.1% between the cost of the drugs basket oif 145 dollars and the income of 308 dollars.
In Luxembourg, the drugs are the most accessible (1st, with the price of the basket 197 dollars and the income is 2,191 dollars) followed by the Netherlands with the cheapest basket of 93 dollars and income of 1,018 dollars per week.
The top 10 of the countries where it is easy to get drugs is completed with Uruguay, Costa Rica, Chile, Norway, Switzerland, France, Germany and Iceland.
The Bloomberg 2019 indicator was simplified against the previous editions which included cigarettes and alcohol.
