Elections in the Republic of Moldova: voting presence 49%, according to the preliminary data

Almost three million voters of the Republic of Moldova were required  to come on Sunday starting with 07:00 to the vote for a new parliament in Kishinev, for a poll which takes place at the same time with the referendum regarding the limited number of deputies from 101 to 61. The leaders of the opposition appealed to foreign observers to monitor strictly the process in order to block the fraud of the voting, warning about electoral tourism.

The parliamentary elections of the Republic of Moldova take place in a tensioned political context due to the deep divergence between power and opposition and as the small state over the Prut faces massive migration of the young people, torn between European integration and Russia’ s influence.

The rate of participation to the vote for parliamentary elections of the Republic  of Moldova is 49 percent, according to the preliminary data in a poll which reflects the division of the  country between the supporters of getting close to Moscow and those who want their country to access the European Union.

„ ‘There were the most non-democratic elections in the history of the Republic of Moldova’ said Maia Sandu at the closing of the polling sections.

‘We saw the obstruction of the voting in the diaspora. We saw people who were turned back from the polling sections, as they were not allowed to vote with expired passports, as they were not informed in time that voting would not be allowed in this way. Moreover, CEC did not allow to file complaints on the part of those who could not vote, saying that complaints can be filed only in Kishinev’ Maia Sandu said according to Unimedia.info.

The Party of the Socialists of the Republic of Moldova will decide if they acknowledge the results of the polling in the constituencies in the Transdniester region as the co-chairmen of the block ACUM DA PAS Maia Sandu and Andrei Nastase asked the observers not to acknowledge the elections of two constitutencies opened for the Transdniester region. The reason is organized transport of the citizens from the left-side of the Dniester to the voting sections in the republic.
