Bolos: Budget rectification can be held only after adopting fiscal measures and reducing expenses

Marcel Bolos, the minster of public finance, declared on Thursday, at a press conference held in Beclean, Bistri?a-N?s?ud county, the budget rectification cannot be made before adopting fiscal measures and reducing expenses, so that Romania risks to reach a budget deficit of 7%.

The minister pointed out that, in his opinion, measures from the “austerity order”should be adopted in September, the first objective being avoiding the suspension of European funds.

According to Bolos, talks with the European Commission about the package of fiscal measures could start on August 24, but representatives of the Finance Ministry will go to Brussels after August 28, when people in charge with the EC financial part return to work.

The measures mentioned by the finance minister at the press conference held on Thursday, include including multinational corporations in the fiscal measure plan, fighting fiscal evasion with fines at least ten times higher and doubled punishments for fiscal evasion, royalties 1,000 times higher for exploiting mineral resources and hydrocarbons, to which a thorough reorganization of ANAF is added for better tax collecting.

Marcel Bolos spoke about measures for the budget sector, a decentralization and regionalization of public services, so that no excess be made on public money.
