Brasov: several concerts and festivals will take place at the Black Church this summer

Several concerts and festivals with Romanian and foreign artists will take place at the Black Church this summer.

‘We want through the cultural programme to draw the attention on the fact that the Black Church is in the centre of the city and thought to be a gathering centre under cultural auspices’ said, in a press conference, the first-priest of the Black Church Christian Plajer.

‘There are collaborations with other festivals, organisations which come into partnership with us and so it should be, we think. A first collaboration will be on 27 May when the Black Church will host the concert World Doctors Orchestra, which is part of their annual charity tours’ said Steffen Shlandt, the coordinator of the concerts.

On 7th June there will start the 64th season of organ concerts which will take place at the four organ in the Black Church, three brought from other cities in the country where the churches were under repair and the own organ of the church.

The organ concert season will comprise 35 events and 13 artists invited from Romania, Canada, Germany, Switzerland and Norway. The organ concerts take place on Tuesdays, in June and September and in July and August on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays starting at 18:00.

On 25th June at 18:00 the Black Church will host an event of the festival ‘ Vibrate’ and on Saturday 2nd July starting at 12:00 the Brass Band from Norway Salen Homorkester, the Kronstadt-Sinaia-Busteni Academy will have a concert at the Black Church on Friday 5th August at 17:00.

The summer season will close with the 13th edition of the Musica Coronensis (27 September – 2 October) to bring together Romanian musicians from the country and diaspora. There will be active musicians from Romania and London, Vienne, Geneva, Zurich, Milan and Graz, artists of international renown,young musicians who have been awarded prizes at different competitions, ensembles and soloists from different festivals co-organised by the Evangelist Church of Romania, the Brasov parish.

Entrance fee for the summer concerts will cost between 12 and 20 lei, a part of the proceedings being donated for charity, said Steffen Schlandt.
