CCIFER's Munch: French investments amounted to 9.7b EUR in 2022
France has been a strategic investor in Romania for 30 years and the value of its investments here amounted to 9.7 billion EUR in 2022, meaning almost 10% of the total level of foreign direct investment, President of the France's Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Romania (CCIFER) Julien Munch said on Monday.
"France has been a strategic investor in Romania for 30 years. In 2022, the value of French investments in Romania was 9.7 billion EUR, i.e. almost 10% of the total level of foreign direct investments. French investments have contributed to the development of strategic areas for Romania, such as: energy, agriculture, automotive industry, large food distribution, aviation, finance and banking, shipbuilding, digitalization and high technologies, telecommunications, construction materials and health. Trade grew by more than 26.4% to 277.4 billion EUR in 2022. I think I can say that French investors are contributing to the creation of added value in Romania, in collaboration with Romanian companies. They appreciate the entrepreneurial and innovative spirit of this country. They are sensitive to the legal stability and predictability of the economic environment, thanks to European rules and free market rules, as well as political stability," Julien Munch stated at the opening of the Business Forum "Together for a Stronger, Greener and Safer Europe."
The CCIFER president underscored that French investments in Romania have created stable jobs, which contribute to improving the quality of life and the fulfillment of a professional career for many Romanian citizens.
According to him, companies in the French-Romanian community are seeking a vision of the future, with pragmatism and European awareness, in the context of the overlapping crises which Europe and its citizens are confronted with in recent years: the health crisis, the war in Ukraine, the climate crisis, economic and inflationary tensions.
The CCIFER president also stressed the importance of collaboration and partnership in order to ensure the long-term economic and social development of a country.
"Being together means being able to bring together, in a common dynamic, the public and private actors that determine the long-term economic and social development of a country. Overcoming crises, transforming difficulties into opportunities and participating in the creation of value in our economies - this is what the strength of the Franco-Romanian business community is all about: working and building together," Julien Munch said.
In his view, "in a world as interconnected as today's," the economic growth of a country can only be achieved in partnership.
"Together - that means it is not about a French company or a Romanian company, but companies deeply involved in the economy and the development of the country. The fact that among the CCIFER members, we have the chance to count dozens of Romanian companies is one more proof, if it was needed, of the quality of exchanges within this Franco-Romanian business community," Julien Munch pointed out.
Founded in 1996, the French Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Romania (CCIFER) is a business community based on French know-how. It is a leader committed to the sustainable development of individuals, communities, companies and Romania. The CCIFER gathers more than 550 companies with French and local capital.
