Citu: a IMF team will come to Romania in January; it will come and give us solutions
A team from the International Monetary Fund will come to Romania in January, will evaluate the way of collecting, the fiscal code and will give us solutions, stated on Tuesday night the minister of public finances, Florin Citu at Digi 24.
‘I will have a team coming from IMF in January to check the fiscal code, to evaluate the way of taxes collection, to see if the fiscal code in Romania is a burden as it is, complicated or it could be improved (…). They will come and give us solutions’ Citu said.
In the report made by the IMF staff after the discussions with the Romanian officials in June this year, the IMF recommended the Romanian authorities to start a process of sustainable fiscal consolidation, supported by quality measures destined to diminish the budgetary deficit and the commercial one, to re-evaluate the new law of pensions and to improve the governance of the state-run companies.
At present, Romania has no financial agreement with the IMF but the financial institution evaluates annually the evolution of the Romanian economy, on the basis of consultations o Article IV.
