The law regarding the acquisition of five airplanes F16 promulgated
President Klaus Iohannis promulgated on Wednesday the Law regarding the acquisition of five airplanes F16. The law for the continuation of the development of the air operational capability included in the initial transition phase of the Conception for the gradual achievement of the air defence capability within the programme ‘ Multitasking airplane of the Air Forces’ was adopted as an emergency by the parliament.
The Programme ‘ Multitasking airplane of the Air Forces’ was approved by decision by CSAT, ‘ the emergency of promoting this draft law is due to the valability conditions of the offer received în August from the government of the Republic of Portugal, valid until the end of 2019, being already postponed twice, the latest being 22 November. What is important in the draft law is the fact that the five planes assure the framework for the transfer of expertise and technology to Romania.
Thus, Aerostar Bacau, will completely remake the third plane by the Romanian party, under the Portuguese supervision and starting with the fourth, the others will be remade 100% by Romanian contribution, thus ensuring the framework for whatever it means the modernization of F16 to be made in Romania, and the main maintenance for F16 to be made in Aerostar Bacau’ stated the minister of defence Nicolae Ciuca last week in the parliament.
