Cord Meier-Klodt, the new Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Romania
Foreign Affairs Minister Teodor Melescanu welcomed on Tuesday Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Romania Cord Meier-Klodt, for the presentation of the copies of the letters of credence.
On this occasion, the two of them exchanged opinions regarding the stage and the prospects of the Romanian-German relations, underscoring the common interest for the strengthening and the further development of the political dialogue and economic cooperation between Romania and Germany, a release of the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) informs.
The two officials have evoked the symbolism of the year 2017, when 25 years are celebrated since the signing of the Treaty between Romania and the Federal Republic of Germany regarding the friendly cooperation and partnership in Europe, an emblematic document of the strategic relation between Bucharest and Berlin, the quoted source reveals.
In the discussions also tackled were the main challenges, which the EU is currently confronted with and the prospects of strengthening the European project. Furthermore, it was underlined the importance of a Romanian - German cooperation deepened on an European plan.
The Romanian dignitary congratulated and wished success to the new chief of the German diplomatic mission in Bucharest in fulfilling the mandate, assuring him of the entire support of the MAE in respect to carrying out his activity in Romania, the MAE release reveals.
