DNA request launch of the criminal action against Paul-Philippe Hohenzollern in the case of 9 million euro prejudice of Snagov forest
National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) Chief Prosecutor Laura Codruta Kovesi stated on Thursday that the prejudice in the case on the retrocession of Snagov forest amounts to approximately nine million euros.
"Hearings will continue throughout the day; several people who participated in the alleged criminal act were heard [and] yesterday preventive measures were taken. The estimated damage is around nine million euros, we are talking about a field of over 40 hectares, located in the Snagov commune," Kovesi stated after the audit performed by the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT).
Prosecutors with the Brasov branch of the DNA requested on Thursday that the investigation in the case on the retrocession of Baneasa Farm and on acts connected to the unlawful retrocession of a surface of 47 hectares of forest located in the Snagov commune be continued, and put former Ilfov County prefect Nicolae Jecu and former Snagov mayor under judicial control.
Moreover, prosecutors requested the launch of the criminal action against Remus Truica for complicity to abuse of office, if the official obtained for a third party an undue benefit with very serious consequences, and money laundering, as well as against Paul-Philippe Hohenzollern (also known as Prince Paul) for complicity to abuse of office, if the official obtained for a third party an undue benefit with very serious consequences.
According to a statement by the DNA sent on Thursday, Nicolae Jecu and Apostol Musat are accused of abuse of office if the official obtained for a third party an undue benefit with very serious consequences.
In the case the prosecutors detained Theodor Chiriac, technical director with the Ilfov Directorate of Forestry at the time the alleged crimes were perpetrated, director by delegation of the above-mentioned Directorate, for abuse of office if the official obtained for third parties an undue benefit with very serious consequences, in continuous form, and improper participation in money laundering. He will be presented on Thursday before the Brasov Court of Appeals with a proposal to be placed under preventive detention for 30 days.
Moreover, it was decided that the measure of judicial control should be initiated against Niculae Dima, secretary of the Snagov commune hall and member of the local committee on land at the time the alleged offenses were perpetrated, for abuse of office if the official obtained for a third party an undue benefit with very serious consequences.
