Domeniile Ostrov wine producer's business advances 150 percent in first 5 months
Domeniile Ostrov wine producer in the first five months of this year registered a turnover increase standing at over 150 percent, compared with the same period of last year, the company informs.
'For the mid-year we estimate an approximate 2.5 million euro turnover,' Domeniile Ostrov national sales manager Adrian Treeroiu said.
For 2011, the wine producer located near the Danube River planned a sale increase in the HoReCa area, the wines under the Domeniile Ostrov brand being already present in nationwide locations.
'Although we had an increasing market demand for PET bottled wine, our sale teams tried to counterbalance the sales to the quality wine area, so we have managed to almost balance the sales on the two segments,' Adrian Treeroiu said.
The sustained efforts for promoting the quality wines bottled by Domeniile Ostrov began to pay off in 2011, as the company started to gain market shares.
'In 2011 we have already sold over 50,000 bottles of the Domeniile Ostrov brand. This year we also count on the sales of the Cetatea Durostorum brand, to which we add a dry and white wine, Sauvignon Blanc, that we plan to launch in the beginning of this month,' Adrian Treeroiu said.
According to Agerpres, from 2005, Domeniile Ostrov initiated a wide investment process consisting of the conversion of vineyards through annual consecutive programmes, irrigation systems, specialized equipment and tools, as well as the modernizing of the two wine stations in line with ultramodern international standards. The total investment volume accounts for 24 million euros.
At present, the vineyard of Ostrov has a vineyard area standing at 1,300 hectares and includes the Ostrov and Lipovita wine centres, Constanta County, on the right shore of the Danube River, on the border between Romania and Bulgaria.
The grape varieties cultivated by the Domeniile Ostrov company are Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Feteasca Neagra, Pinot Noir, Syrach and Rebo for the red wines. For the white wines, Domeniile Ostrov grows varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Feteasca Alba, Feteasca Regala, Riesling Italian, Muscat Ottonel and Cramposie - varieties that are special, famous and appreciated by wine lovers, but also by refined tasters.
