EcoMin prepares a study on the impact of the current situation in the UK on the Romanian economy
The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Relations with the Business Environment carried out a study on the impact of the current situation in the UK on the Romanian economy and will roll out on July 5 a new country project, Deputy PM and Economy Minister Costin Borc said on Tuesday, attending the conference for the presentation of the project's conclusions, dubbed "Analysis of the impact of the legislation in force on key sectors of the Romanian economy."
"We have readied a document I will present the Prime Minister, who in his turn will make it public this weekend. It's a document on the current impact on the Romanian economy. The country project will be released next week, on July 5, at the Palace of Parliament. In working it out we consulted with the National Bank, and the Romanian Academy," said Borc.
He did not elaborate on the contents of the two documents he referred to.
On Friday President Klaus Iohannis announced that he will attend this week the European Council meeting in Brussels and that subsequently he will give a briefing in Bucharest with a view to outlining a plan for the future.
"The European Council meeting takes place next week on Tuesday and Wednesday, and I will be attending. After I return to the country, I invite all those who participated in today's talks at the Cotroceni Palace, the Prime Minister, the BNR governor and political party leaders, to a briefing on what was discussed and decided in Brussels, to determine together how we'll go on. It's clear to everyone that Europe, the European Union, has a lot of work to do. We must redefine the European project, we need to render it better, easier to understand for the common citizen, better performing. The same applies to Romania. There was political consensus and political will for European integration, but regrettably there wasn't a national project, a post-accession country project. Now is the time to fill this gap, it's time to devise a new country project, and we will do this together. I'll assure the Romanians that this crisis called Brexit carries major opportunities for Romania and together with the entire political class we'll make sure that Romania and the EU emerge stronger from this crisis," said the head of state after an emergency meeting called at the Cotroceni Palace on June 24, in the aftermath of the Brexit vote.
