US Ambassador to Bucharest: No need for punitive approach for Brexit
Hans Klemm, the US Ambassador to Bucharest pointed out that from Washington’s point of view there should not be a punitive approach for Brexit. He said on the public TV station that the US were disappointed for the result of the vote on Thursday, but as president Obama said, the will of the British people must be taken into account.
Klemm added that the challenge for Great Britain, EU and other UK partners was to draw up a future path, hopefully in a productive, organized way.
The leaders of France, Germany and Italy recommended Great Britain on Monday night to clearly announce its exit from the European Union and pointed out there was no time to waste. British citizens voted in favour of Brexit but London delays the formal request to leave EU, hoping to negotiate advantageous conditions.
