Eurostat: Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania recorded the lowest Actual Individual Consumption (AIC) per capita
Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania recorded the lowest Actual Individual Consumption (AIC) per capita expressed in Purchasing Power Standards (PPS), according to the data published on Thursday by the the European Statistical Office (Eurostat).
The situation is identical in respect to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita express in PPS, Romania, Bulgaria and Croatia standing at almost half the average recorded in the rest of the member states.
In 2016, in the EU, the AIC per capita express in PPS varied from 53 percent of the EU average in Bulgaria, 59 percent in Croatia and 61 percent in Romania, and up to 132 percent of the EU average in Luxembourg.
However, a clear increase can be noticed in Romania (61 percent of the EU average in 2016 compared to 56 percent in 2014), Lithuania (85 percent of the EU average in 2016 as compared to 81 percent in 2014) and Estonia (72 percent of the EU average in 2016 compared to 69 percent in 2014). The most significant decreases were recorded in Luxembourg (132 percent of EU average in 2016 compared to 138 percent in 2014), Austria (119 percent of EU average in 2016 compared to 122 percent in 2014), Belgium (112 percent of EU average in 2016 comparative with 115 percent in 2014) and Greece (77 percent of the EU average in 2016 compared to 80 percent in 2014).
In respect to the GDP per capita in 2016, the indicator varied from 49 percent of the EU average in Bulgaria, 58 percent in Romania and 60 percent in Croatia, up to 258 percent of the EU average in Luxembourg.
