Fifor: a part of the political environment of the Republic of Moldova got very worried when we talked about the mixed battalion
The minister of national defence Mihai Fifor says that the setting up of a Romanian-Moldavian mixed battalion would not involve the transfer of Romanian troops in the neighbouring country, as the minister stated that a part of the political environment of the Republic of Moldova ‘ got very worried’ although the discussions with his counterpart were only general talk.
As the minister of national defence Mihai Fifor was present on Sunday at an event in Arad he was asked by the journalists about the setting up of a Romanian-Moldavian mixed battalion after the discussions had taken place between the ministers of defence of the two countries at the beginning of the year.
Fifor said that the discussions in Kishinev with his counterpart Eugen Sturza was general talk and he showed that after that, a part of the political environment of the Republic of Moldova ‘ got very worried’.
The minister clarified that the discussions were ‘ about a formula similar to the mixed battalion which we have designed for the Tisa project’ namely a unit for emergency situations which could be operational and intervene whenever it is necessary.
