Fight against corruption in the domain of public acquisitions – the topic of discussion between the specialists of BERD and DNA

The fight against corruption in the domain of public acquisition was one of the topics discussed in the workshop which took place on Tuesday in Bucharest where were present specialists in acquisitions of the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development and 30 experts from the National Anti-Corruption Directorate (DNA) , a press release of BERD says.

Those present discussed methods of identifying and reducing frauds in the domain of public funds usage and analysed the best practices in international contracts.

The workshop comes after a series of meetings at high level between BERD and DNA meant to strengthen the collaboration between the two institutions.

Besides investments, BERD is employed in a political dialogue with the countries where they invest. The improvement of the business environment is essential to drawing investors and creating the preconditions for a sustainable growth, the BERD press release shows.

BERD owned by 64 countries and two intergovernmental institutions supports the development of market economies and democracy. Over the last years, BERD started to refocus their attention from the former Soviet bloc to North Africa and such countries as Turkey.

From the beginning of their activity, BERD invested approximately seven billion euro in over 368 projects in Romania. IN 2014, Romania was the sixth country in the top of the main beneficiaries of BERD investments.
