First economic revitalization signs in the region after inauguration of Calafat-Vidin Bridge
After the inauguration of the Calafat Vidin Bridge the first signs of business revitalization appeared in the area, said Vidin prefect Kristio SPasov, who met Romania’s president to Bulgaria, Anton Pacureanu. The two discussed about the stimulation of cooperation in the region especially between Vidin district and Dolj county between 2014-2020.
The two officials agreed to set up a group made of Romanian and Bulgarian experts to work on joint projects meant to encourage economic, social and cultural exchanges between the two countries. The chambers of trade and industry of Vidin and Craiova, business representatives and non government organizations will be partners. Various business forums will be organized to stimulate partnership in the public and private sectors.
Vegetable growing is well developed in Vidin and the processing industry in the Craiova area, said the Romanian diplomat, suggesting a possible cooperation.
During his visit to Vidin, ambassador Anton Pacureanu pointed out the fact that Romania is the third export market in EU for Bulgarian producers after Germany and Italy. The business volume between the two countries exceeded 3.5 billion euro/ year in the last 2-3 years and over a million Romanian tourists visit Bulgaria.
