Foreigners massively buy foreign currency

At about 2:00 p.m. Friday afternoon, euro’s exchange rate against the local currency – the leu – went past 3.8 lei, marking a new three-year low for the leu, following aggressive forex buy orders from foreign funds, dealers say. “Massive buy orders from foreign funds popped up in the middle of the day, causing the exchange rate to rise by over five bani in just one hour,” a dealer commented.
