Former King Michael withdraws the membership of the Order of the Crown of Romania in rank of Officer to Bucharest Mayor Sorin Oprescu
Former King Michael has decided on Monday to withdraw the membership of the Order of the Crown of Romania in rank of Officer to Bucharest Mayor Sorin Oprescu, currently under arrest on bribe-taking charges.
According to press release sent by the Press Office of King Michael to AGERPRES on Monday, "this decision was taken in accordance with the provisions of the Statute of the Dynastic Order of the Crown of Romania issued on December 30 2011".
"Mr. Sorin Mircea Oprescu has been informed in writing by the Chancellery of Royal Distinctions about the withdrawal of this Order", the press release informed.
Magistrates from the Bucharest Tribunal have decided on Sunday to place Bucharest Mayor Sorin Oprescu under preventive arrest for 30 days.
