Four more people infected with new coronavirus die; death toll reaches 24
Four more people infected with the new type of coronavirus have died, with the number of deceased from this cause reaching 24, informs the Strategic Communication Group.
A number of 29 patients infected with the novel coronavirus are admitted to the intensive care ward, of whom 23 patients are in a serious health condition, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informs. According to the quoted source, the health status of the other patients is good, stationary.
A number of 1,029 persons have been confirmed so far in Romania as infected with COVID-19, and 24 persons have died, according to the GCS. Since the latest information broadcast, 123 new cases of infection have been recorded. The newly confirmed patients are aged between 7 and 87, the GCS mentions. Of the infected persons, 94 were declared cured and discharged: 53 in Timisoara, 28 in Bucharest, 6 in Craiova, 5 in Constanta, one in Iasi and one in Cluj.
The average age of patients diagnosed, so far, in Romania, with the new coronavirus is about 45 years, the highest percentage representing people aged between 19 and 50 years (60pct).
According to the Strategic Communication Group, those between the ages of 51 and 69 represent 28pct of the cases of illness, and those aged 70 or over – 6pct. Also, 3pct are minors, 53pct - women, and 44pct – men. Of the 1,029 people confirmed positive for the new coronavirus, 16 patients (2pct) are between 0 and 9 years old; 24 patients (2pct) are between 10 and 19 years old; 104 patients (10pct) - between 20 and 29 years old; 215 patients (21pct) - between 30 and 39 years; 267 patients (26pct) - between 40 and 49 years old. Also, 192 patients (19pct) are between 50 and 59 years old; 117 patients (11pct) - between 60 and 69 years, 60 patients (6pct) - between 70 and 79 years, and 9 (1pct) patients are over 80 years old. A number of 153 medical staff and auxiliary staff are confirmed with COVID-19 at national level, according to the data reported from the territory to the National Center for Transmitted Disease Supervision and Control within the National Institute of Public Health. According to information from the Ministry of Health, 70 of them are doctors and 50 nurses. Most cases - 90 are in Suceava and 36 are in Bucharest. In Constanta, there is one case registered, Covasna - 5, Hunedoara - 12, Iasi - 3, Neamt - 2, Vrancea – 2.
