MFP requests European Commission authorization for VAT and customs duty exemptions for imports meant to fight COVID 19 spreading
The Ministry of Public Finance (MFP) announced on Thursday that it requested EC authorization to apply exemptions of customs duties and VAT for imports meant to prevent and fight the spreading of Covid 19 virus.
The European Commission will issue the approval by the end of the week.
“The custom duty and VAT exemptions will be granted for imports of protection equipment, other medical devices or equipment, medicines, made by state organizations, charitable or philanthropic organizations, approved by competent authorities, or by agents/organizations for aid in case of disasters,” MFP informed.
The imported goods will be distributed free of charge to disaster victims or to satisfy needs for the prevention, limitation the spreading of Covid 19 infection.
