Government: employers can hire, this year, 5,500 foreign citizens newly entering the work force



The government decided on Friday to admit 5,500 new foreign workers on the work force of Romania, says a press release of the government.

It is about the citizens of other states then the EU member states, of the European Economic Area or Switzerland or foreign citizens whose free access on the work market is established through agreements ad treaties signed by Romania with other states.

The government established the number and types of newly-accepted workers on the work market in Romania: permanent workers – 3,500; resident workers – 200; season workers – 200; transborderly workers – 100; highly qualified workers -800; relocated workers – 700.



" ‘The number of foreign newly-admitted workers on the work market in Romania is established every year, though government decision. For 2017 there is a number for the same number as the previous three years as , in the first six months of 2016 out of the 5,500 hiring agreements which were issued a number of 1,146 agreements, out of which 795 for permanent workers, 277 for relocated workers and 74 for highly qualified .Through the normative document approved by the government is assured a control of the number of foreigners who come on the territory of Romania and there is a limit to the number of foreign workers relocated for which the social insurance contributions are paid in the state of origin’ the quoted source says.

According to the government, the issuing of the hiring agreements for the workers on the work market in Romania represents income to the state budget estimated at approximately 1.1 million euro, taking into consideration that for issuing the hiring agreements the employer pays a tariff established in lei, the equivalent of 200 euro, and when the hiring agreement is issued for the seasonal workers, the employer pays a tarrif in lei equivalent to 50 euro.
