HealthMin Tataru: Almost 90 pct of coronavirus dead last week have comorbidities
Health Minister Nelu Tataru, stated, on Thursday evening, at private broadcaster B1 TV, that 87 pct of the persons that died last week, diagnosed as having the novel coronavirus, had comorbidities.
"We have sought to report all persons healed, but also all deceased, who were infected with the coronavirus. We are not saying that they've died of the coronavirus. Look that, in the past week, 87 pct of the dead had comorbidities. That disease, leukemia or the chronic disease, they didn't have it since yesterday so I can say that today was the day the disease manifested. A cumulation of factors - the coronavirus disease, as well as co-existing diseases led to the death," Nelu Tataru explained.
The Health Minister claims that there are persons who have deceased only because of the infection with the novel coronavirus, following multiple organ failure.
"There are. Those who we find without comorbidities and that we find, say, with multiple organ insufficiency, and the necropsy shows us the changes to the organs: pulmonary, cerebral or vascular (...) When we make reports through the Strategic Communication Group we also have the comorbidities for each of the deceased (...) In the past week, 87 pct of the dead had comorbidities. Practically only 13 were infected only with the coronavirus," said the Health Minister.
Nelu Tataru added that there are countries in Europe, such as Germany, who are reporting only deaths of persons infected with the coronavirus but which had no other conditions.
