Hungarian ambassador in Macedonia warns migrants may use new routes, including Romania
Migrants can use new routes to Europe, including Romania, and the fight against traffickers can be successful only if it focuses on all migration, said the Hungarian ambassador to Macedonia, according to MTI.
They can use the routes Albania- Italy or Greece-Bulgaria-Romania- Hungary, said Jozsef Bencze, who encourages the police and secret services in all countries in all routes to unite force in the fight against migrant traffickers.
The law should be consolidated and coordinated, and the equipment used by guides and the money they obtain by trafficking should be immediately confiscated, Bencze said.
“The Macedonians saw in the building of a border barrier by Hungary an example to be followed, because they can understand that they cannot cope with the invasion of tens of thousand migrants daily,” the ambassador said.
Migration has been an important financial burden for Macedonia, Bencze considers.
Several neighbour countries, members of the V4 Group (from Vishegrad) offered support, while EU decided to offer funds of 9 million euros to the Macedonian police and supply border personnel, the Hungarian ambassador added in Skopje.
