Secretary of State for Global Affairs with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) Daniela Gitman expressed concern about the nuclear test and the launching of missiles conducted by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) during talks with the Ambassador agree of the DPRK to Romania, Ri Pyong-du.
According to a statement by the MAE, Daniela Gitman received the Ambassador agree of the DPRK to Romania on Thursday for the presentation of the letters of credence.
"During the meeting the status and perspectives of the bilateral relations were assessed. The Romanian side expressed concern about the nuclear test and missile launches conducted by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, activities that contradict the resolutions of the UN Security Council and increase tensions in the Korean Peninsula," the MAE statement reads.
The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also points out that on the sidelines of the talks between the two officials, the DPRK was urged to re-enter a credible dialogue with the international community, including by "resuming talks in a six-party format, in the interest of cooperation, reconciliation and stability in the Korean Peninsula."
