President Klaus Iohannis is going to participate on Friday in an informal meeting with the heads of state of Bulgaria and Austria, set to take place in Ruse, Bulgaria, the Presidential Administration informs on Thursday.
The three countries will be holding the rotating presidency of the Council of European Union this year and in the first half of next year.
Discussions will focus on the current European agenda, with a view to facilitating a good cooperation and coordination during the three mandates.
"President Iohannis will voice Romania's interest in collaborating with the Bulgarian and Austrian heads of state in accomplishing their common goal of advancing the European agenda to the citizens' benefit. The Romanian President is going to underscore that, during the time that Romania will hold the presidency of the Council of the European Union, our country will seek to promote such pragmatic approaches and feasible objectives, so that the European citizens could benefit from the added value of the European project and its concrete results," said the Presidential Administration.
Iohannis will also participate alongside his Bulgarian and Austrian counterparts in the conference "Sustainable development of the Danube Region and interconnection between regions," organized at the Angel Kanchev University in Ruse.
On the same occasion of the informal meeting in Ruse, President Iohannis will also have separate meetings with his Bulgarian counterpart, Rumen Radev, and the Austrian one, Alexander Van der Bellen, during which they will approach aspects related to the bilateral, European and regional agenda of common interest.
