Millennials generation wants short, clear employment ads in social media and mobile phone applications
Millennials generation wants short and clear employments, the possibility to apply on mobile phones without having to fill in long forms that require many data, at least in the first stage of the recruiting process, according to a study.
Young people expect employers to have a proactive attitude and take labour offers where real online communication exists: on social networks, in online communities and news websites, according to the study made in Romania by the marketing recruiting platform SmartDreamers.
About 44% of respondents are active on social networks for 1-3 hours a day. The next category is that of people who spend less than an hour on Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn - over 22%. Then there are young people who are online between 3 and 6 hours a day (21.5%) and those who are present more than 6 hours/day (12.4%).
Young people want to learn about new jobs on social media which is in open battle with classical job websites. 44.6% of those who participated in the study want to learn about jobs from alternate recruiting channels, such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube or online communities. The fact that it becomes difficult for many companies to cover a large number of jobs makes social media an important recruiting channel. 57.9% of respondents say they click on an ad in social media to see what it is about, while 37.1% say they would access the ad only if it were an active one. Only 5% say they do not click on an ad in social media because they would rather look for jobs on recruiting platforms.
Very often, although they see employment ads on cell phones when in town, on the bus or underground, candidates must reach a laptop of PC to apply because few companies in Romania offer the possibility to apply on cell phones. According to the study, 51.8% of respondents want to apply from smart phones.
When they want to learn more details about the company, 83.4% of young people go to the website of the respective brand. Information lists also include news and articles about the company from the media (44.7%), social media accounts of the brand, job platforms.
There are impediments which make young people give up applying for a job. 59.8% say that long, complicated or unclear descriptions are major drawbacks. Another reason is the long application tome and the high volume of data requested. For 21.6% of respondents the lack a photos of videos in presenting the company is also a drawback.
