Isarescu: it is difficult to satisfy what the population wants and what the economy can give
The governor of the National Bank of Romania (BNR) Mugur Isarescu explained on Monday that between the central bank and the parliament or the government there is no conflict, but it is difficult to harmonize what the population wants with what the economy wants
‘The parliament created an independent institution (says BNR) which comes and says what the economy can. They say what the people’s vote wants,we say how much the economy can do – we have to meet one another somewhere’ the governor Mugur Isarescu said during a press briefing after the meeting of monetary policy
‘Our model evaluates excess or surplus of demand, namely consumption which is not supported by production The National Commission of Prognosis estimated that this excess is more reduced, we have come with our variant But you have a look at the current account and you see how much the imports surpassed exports, and then you cannot lie,it is like ink on litmus.
‘They say, from surveys what the people want, we show, with figures, how much the economy can’Mugur Isarescu said.
The PSD chairman Liviu Dragnea contradicted on Monday the BNR governor Mugur Isarescu saying that the government works with concrete figures, not with surveys, as Isarescu said a few hours before.
