The president promulgated the law through which BEI finances Romania with a billion of euro
President Klaus Iohannis promulgated the law for the approval of the framework contract for the financing between Romania and the European Bank for Investments (BEI) through which our country receives financing of one billion euro, sum which will be used for transport projects.
The framework contract was signed in Luxembourg by the minister of finances in July 2017,and the money lent to Romania by BEI will be used to cover the contribution to the state budget with a view to co-financing some projects of infrastructure and transport,in the Operational Programme for Big Infrastructure 2014 – 2020. The contract will be implemented by the ministry of transport.
According to an announcement of the government made last year, the loan is offered by BEI for a period of up to 25 years, and the period of grace will be up to 7 years and will be distributed in maximum 20 shares up to 31 December 2024.
