Start EUROPAfest 25 - 10 May, Opening Gala Concert - Bucharest and Sibiu

EUROPAfest - jazz | blues | pop | classic is celebrating 25 years of good music under the slogan "It's all about live quality music!", a press release sent bu organizers informs. The festival was named EFFE - Europe's Finest Festivals in 2015, and for 14 years it is held under the Royal House's High Patronage. On Thursday, the 10th of May, EUROPAfest opens its doors and invites the world to join a marathon of colourful and sophisticated events. Like every year, the festival starts with a Double Opening Gala Concert - Bucharest and Sibiu. No matter the city, the evening promises excitement, intense and authentic experiences alongside first league artists.

Under the title EUROPAfest 25 - Opening Gala Concert, the stage of Bucharest`s Odeon Theatre, will host, starting from 20:00 o`clock, one extraordinary evening, channelling the vibe of an entire festival. The concert debuts with British guitarist and vocalist MEL HAYES who returns to Romania at the request of the audience.

At just 12 years old, the artist started her musical career, and since then she has performed over 1,000 concerts both in the UK, Europe and the US. Moreover, she had numerous appearances on television and radio shows. The pianist and jazz composer DAN PAPIRANY (Australia, Israel), will give Bucharest`s jazz lovers musical pieces with special melodic phrase and exquisite harmony. Together with his trio, the artist was nominated for the New Zealand Music Awards.

In 2016, Dan Papirany's band performed a concert on the EUROPAfest stage, and this year he is returning as a performer and member of the jury for the Bucharest International Jazz Competition. HELENA IACOB (Romania) began studying the violin at the age of 5 and since then music has been her number one priority. Guided by her passion, Helena has won numerous national and international competitions, in the past becoming a laureate of the Jeunesses International Music Competition Dinu Lipatti.

The evening ends with a special performance from BLUESETTE DUO (Romania). Raluca Stoica and Alex Tomaselli have the gift of capturing their audience's attention. Known for multiple musical projects such as "Romeo and Juliet", "Rocky Horror Picture Show", "Jazzappella", "Hot Club of Bucharest", "PROMS Jazz & Classic", "Black Cat Bone", "TONE" or “Let The Good Times Roll” with Radio Romania's Big Band, the artists created a new “scenario” where they can express their love for authentic blues. Roxana Stroe will also join Bluesette Duo at EUROPAfest as special guest.

Furthermore, on the 10th of May, from 19:00, the music lovers of Sibiu will also enjoy an exceptional show EUROPAfest 25 - Opening Gala Concert. Dutch pianist MARCUS BEURSGENS, laureate of the Jeunesses International Music Competition Dinu Lipatti, will perform on the stage of the Thalia Hall alongside Sibiu`s Philharmonic Orchestra under the conductor Gabor Horvath (Hungary). The evening promises a symphonic concert characterized by pleasure, sensitivity and originality, with works by George Gershwin and Dmitri Shostakovich.



jmEvents announces EUROPAfest 25 as a sparkling and refined edition, done with dedication and professionalism - 10 days of various events. From the 10th to the 19th of May, Bucharest and Sibiu are invaded by good music. The audience is invited to watch and applaud the live performances of artists coming from 26 countries, all invited to attend the festival`s events: Bucharest International Jazz Competition (12-19 May), Jeunesses International Music Competition Dinu Lipatti (10-19 May), Caffe Festival Ibis (11-18 May), EUROPAfest Gala (19 May).
