Labor minister has talks with German counterpart on strengthening cooperation between ministries

Simona Bucura-Oprescu, the minister of labor and social solidarity, had talks with her German counterpart, Hubertus Heil, about strengthening coperation between the two ministries and among institutions under their authority.

According to a press release posted on the Facebook page of the minister, the bilateral meeting was held before the EPSCO Meeting in Brussels.

Improving work conditions for Romanians working in Germany is a joint target. We have a good collaboration for labor inspection. We have coordination about professional training and the pension system. We decided to strenghten cooperation and establish a joint document about actions regarding integration in the labor market, including migrants and refugees,” said minister Bucura Oprescu, quoted in the press release.

According to the source, Romanians are the fourth largest foreign community in Germany, after Turks, Ukrainians and Syrians, to whom are added a few hundred thousand people of Romanian origin who are German citizens. 909,793 persons are in the statistic evidence of Romanian citizens officially registered with residence in Germany, on December 31, 2023.
