Leonardo's collaboration offers with Romanian Armed Forces
Leonardo and the Italian Embassy in Romania organized in Bucharest a symposium to present the range of naval, land and air systems of Leonardo company, a press release sent by the Italian Embassy to ACTmedia informs.
Nicolae Nasta and Florin Lazar Vladica, Secretaries of state in the Defence Ministry were present in the event next to representatives of the Italian Armed Forces and offered important information on operative aspects of the products.
His Excellency Marco Giungi, the Italian Ambassador to Romania, presented the event pointing out that: “Leonardo represents an industrial conglomerate able to propose integrated solutions in the defence sector. This this presents obvious advantages - in terms of economy and inter-operativeness- which are added to the technological excellence of each product.”
Secretary pf State Nicolae Nasta also took the floor reading a message sent by Defence Minister Mihai Viorel Fifor: “This event is of great importance for the defence community in Italy and Romania and I am sure the rising professional collaboration will bring high benefits to actors in the defence sector, active in our countries.” “I am sure the consolidated strategic collaboration between Romania and Italy ensures a solid structure, the opening of new opportunities for collaboration which can be strengthened and explores new sectors of mutual interest.” “We firmly think that the Italian defence industry will benefit from significant opportunities to participate in the modernization of the Romanian Armed Forces.”
Lorenzo Mariani, the commercial manager of Leonardo declared: “We are happy to be present in Bucharest to show our Romanian friends the range of our products able to satisfy their demands. Leonardo is in avant garde about development and manufacture of systems to serve our clients’ armed forces, improving communication and data management while supplying products able to protect battle fields. We are looking forward to working n Romania which already knows us by means of our communication systems, our tactical transport plane C-27J and Vixen radar, with other programme in the future.”
Leonardo is one of the world leaders in design, development and manufacture of defence systems for land and sea scenarios as well as well known capacities in the airspace field.
A series of land and sea defence solutions, among which communication systems for key air defence data sharing to ensure the modern land field protection with 24/30 mm Hitfist tower. Leonardo also presented “NEC Force”, a collaboration with Italian Armed Forces, to modernize and improve the operation , tactic and logistic information exchange in each Italian armed Force units, spread in the operation theatre.
In the naval sector, Leonardo presented a vast range of light system management, radar and electric optical radar sensors systems, communication, defence and torpedo systems.
Leonardo has been active at the most important international space programs with two joint ventures, Telespazio ( Laonardo 67% and Thales 33% and Thales Alemia Space (Thales 67% and Leonardo 33%) next to in-house activities. Cosmo - SkyMed is one of the most innovating satellite civil programs able to satisfy civil demands (monitoring the environment, civil protection, oil and gas) and military ones.
Leonardo is present in Romania with two companies: Elettra Communications, active in telecommunication equipment and Ratek ( an Italian-Romanian joint venture) active in satellite services.
In past years Leonardo supplied seven C-27J tactical transport airplanes, communication systems like PTN (Permanent Telecommunication Network) and naval weapons. At civilian level, Leonardo supplied radar systems to different air traffic. Recently, Leonardo Vixen 50E AESA radar was ordered by the National Institute of Air Space Research, the main airspace research and development in Romania, for its new technological demonstrative program for IAR 99 TD instructor.
